You have organised a video shoot for a 7-piece band. You have spent 2 weeks establishing a date that is suitable for everyone. You have given everyone 3 opportunities to negate on a decided date before booking the studio, and you have waited 2 days between announcing the decided date and sending the final contracts. All musicians are being paid to attend and you are paying deposits to hire a studio, videographer and stylists. You send the contracts and the event is finally booked, 3 months in advance. A day after sending the contract, you receive a message from the trumpet player saying that he has been offered a pantomime and cannot afford to turn it down, so is there any alternative out of the dates deliberated. By this point, it is too late because you have already booked the suppliers and sent the contracts out. How would you respond?
You have organised a photo shoot for a demo recording. The studio, photographer and retouching has been paid for in advance, in excess of £1200. All performers have been contracted 3 months in advance, and there is an additional group liability contract whose clauses state that they are under a group attendance agreement, and are jointly and severally liable for upholding the agreement, i.e., if 1 person breaches the agreement, they are liable to pay any losses or cancellation fees as a result of that breach. You receive a phone call the day before the photo shoot from the percussionist’s wife telling you that the percussionist has broken his leg. How would you respond?
